I'm actually thinking about getting a really good rain jacket that doesn't leak (!). But I'm not quite sure if this one is really more for snow than torrential Tasmanian rain. Any experience of this?

I've got one and used in torrential rain in Tasmania and elsewhere and stayed dry. The outer is scrub worthy and the inner is seam-sealed Gore-tex Pro which is as good as it gets but it's not magic, no jacket is. I haven't noticed it walking but I have tested with a hose and the pocket zips leak. You stay dry but the pockets get wet inside and that's the only con that that I know of.

Also people need to be aware that there are a lot of counterfeit Arc'teryz gear out there, especially places like ebay.

So many jackets now without storm flaps.

Great price tho...

I must say the knockoff items I bought in Nepal 5 years ago, various labels, have all been worn to death and are still going strong. I wish I'd known how good they were at the time.
