Walhalla to Rumpff saddle planning

Hi brains trust, skogpingvin (Bill) here

My daughter and I are planning the AAWT, but due to both of us being employed, we have to do it in stages. First stage is Walhalla to Rumpff Saddle in early November (2019).

We're both experienced hikers and the fitness is there, but there are going to be a couple of places where the navigation looks challenging.

Can anyone tell me about the area about 1.5 km south of Black River campsite, as well as the exit from the campsite up the spur (94.4 to 95.5 in Chapman)? It looks very vague and maybe difficult.

Welcome to the forum Bill.

There are a lot of trip reports that will give you some insight to the conditions if not the eact path to be taken.

Mark and Andy Oates avoided the bush bash on Day 4 it seems.

There is a GPX here which seems to track on the AAWT near Black River.

I can't vouch for the accuracy of any of this information but it will hopefully give you some insight of what you face taking the bush route to Black River.
If you search Bushwalk.com there will be other accounts that might be of assistance.

Thanks Kev, I've seen a lot of those, and got a couple of the GPX traces, I was hoping for something extra. I think we've probably got the info we need.
