Zpacks padded hip pockets

A place to chat about gear and the philosphy of ultralight. Ultralight bushwalking or backpacking focuses on carrying the lightest and simplest kit. There is still a good focus on safety and skill.
Forum rules
Ultralight Bushwalking/backpacking is about more than just gear lists. Ultralight walkers carefully consider gear based on the environment they are entering, the weather forecast, their own skill, other people in the group. Gear and systems are tested and tweaked.
If you are new to this area then welcome - Please remember that although the same ultralight philosophy can be used in all environments that the specific gear and skill required will vary greatly. It is very dangerous to assume that you can just copy someone else's gear list, but you are encouraged to ask questions, learn and start reducing the pack weight and enjoying the freedom that comes.

Common words

Anyone own these? I have their standard hip pockets but want these to put on a 1inch webbing belt.

Any good?

Just got some delivered yesterday, haven't tested them out yet.

Build quality is good, they seem to offer a decent amount of padding. I'd not put them on bare skin.

If you need a wide hipbelt for load transfer I definitely wouldn't use them. For a sub 10kg load in a nero or similar I think they'll be good.

Volume wise they're about the same as the pockets on an arc blast... Huge.

I'm getting a wilderness thread works Sonder made, so these are to go on that. 1 inch hip belt, sub 9kg loads.

I have the non padded ones already and I really like them.

Why not have Dan to make you some hip belt pockets when he makes the Sonder? That's what I dis and its great! Should save a heap on shipping too.

I'm going to wait till the pack comes and see what I can fit. I have some Atom packs pockets that I don't use in LS 21 (sonder in LS 21 too) so I'll see how I go.

I do prefer the size and top zip of the Zpacks pockets compared to side zipped Atom ones though.

Another option would be to opt for a padded hip belt which Dan can do, a couple of loops sewn onto that would work though at a 60g penalty (gasp).
