Theoretical query Group shelter Size Vs Height Vs shape?

Very much a theoretical exercise as I doubt I will ever get around to sewing anything even if I have the poles and fabric here and funds to purchase are not there either.
Also not thinking Everest where the commercial group shelters are well catered for already by Hilleberg, Mountain Hardwear, TNF etc.
For small groups up to about 6 persons I found my old Megamids were OK but I am thinking about something a little larger for a group of 8 to 12.
Simple tarps are fine in summer and the shoulder seasons and OK in winter below the snow line but because of the time I spend above the snow line in winter I do think mainly about that particular scenario more often.
So square based tipi tarp like the Megamid but bigger? A long A-Frame tarp like the MSR Twin Brothers of the bigger 3f-UL shelter or a hoop such as the WE Space Station
