Wilmot River crossings

Postby billshep2 » Mon 11 Nov, 2019 6:03 pm

Wilmot River walks are currently affected by high water levels due to spilling from the Lake Gairdner dam. Hydro have a maintenance operation on the tunnel which will make spilling more prevalent for a while, coupled with the higher rainfall and snow of late.
End result is that the river is far too high to cross. Lucy's Track on the east bank is in good order if you want a pleasant stroll.
If I get more information from Hydro on the engineering works, which are of course a necessary part of operations, I will post it.

Hydro have been very helpful. They say it will be late Winter/early Spring of 2020 before the upgrade at Wilmot power station is complete.
The river will only be fordable during dry spells, and even then you might have to wade. Obviously it will be far too dangerous to wade when its high. The tracks themselves will be unaffected, just the crossings.
