Cradle Mountain Good Friday Bash

Postby ryantmalone » Sat 20 Apr, 2019 4:53 pm

So, it's been a while since I've posted in these parts. Life got in the way, terrible breakup, weight gain, uncertainty, etc, and would you believe it... I now live in Tasmania. Silver linings and all that. :D

So, I decided to stick the middle finger up to my "overweightness", and go climb Cradle Mountain.

Thing is, the "tricky parts" of the climb have been defeating me since I was 9 years old. I'm now approaching 40. It was time I put this summit in the bag.

And that I did.

The Fagus put on a lovely show too. :)

Props to the amazing people I shared the mountain with on the day, and helped everyone get back to the car park after the last shuttle bus left.

PS. Going down the alternate track from Marions Lookout to Lake Dove in the dark is not recommended at all.

Welcome back!

And congratulations on finally bagging this peak, I’m sure it felt great to finally get it knocked off!

Cheers! It felt incredible. Its definitely not the most straightforward summit to bag either! Made the effort so much more worth it.

No dramas! There will be more to come. Hoping to claim Little Horn in the coming week or two as well, if we dont get too much snow this week.

Such shocking weather you had. Must have been a struggle to keep up the enthusiasm in conditions like that.

Oh mate, it was filthy. I got so much sun, I could feel my Irish ancestry burning away. ;)
