Transport in Falls Creek area

Postby Rog » Wed 19 Feb, 2020 2:19 pm

Planning a walk starting at Heathy Spur carpark and finishing at Howmans Gap. We would like to leave our
car at Howmans and get a lift to Heathy Spur. We are only 2 or maybe 3 people so we dont require a large vehicle.
I have tried calling Falls Creek resort management and the people who run The YMCA camp at Howmans but they
both said they dont know anyone who does this.
Are there any other options I can explore ? Any locals want to earn some easy money?

Drop the gear and the person/people at the Heathy Spur corner, drive down and leave the car at Howmans and walk/hitch back up without a pack. You can usually get a lift

Hey Moondog, walking along the road is my fallback option, its 7km with a 360m climb.
Its just that on day one of a multi day walk my walking companion and I just want to get straight
into it without walking along a road or waiting around for the other one of us to do it.

Maybe putting out more details will help. We are two people with packs wanting a lift from Howmans Gap
to the Heathy Spur Carpark on the morning of Sat 4th april around 10 am (negotiable).
We are willing to pay $80 for this service.
If anyone knows someone who lives, works or runs a business in the area let them know there is some
easy money to be made.
PM me through this forum.

It's April You can safely park at Windy Corner.
But you should have no trouble hitching up in the AM. The same applies on the other end of the trip I no longer know anybody who is freely available to help out. But a PM incoming

Decided over a week ago we are not going. Even though the chance of having to call emergency services are low
I cannot justify having to use even a tiny bit of their resources.
