Great Victorian Rail Trail

Postby Same » Wed 11 Dec, 2019 11:29 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone here has hiked the rail trail and could share their experiences.

Thinking of doing it in the future, with luck maybe in Jan, and wondered what people did for camping spots etc.

Any advice or stories please share

I've ridden it there and back from Tallarook camped at Cathkin in a railway reserve but not much on offer for free camping. I'd imagine Bonnie Doon will be very busy that time of year. Nearly all gravel from memory.

Well there is stealth camping (a tad naughty and not to be condoned) but I think water would be a very big issue.
