Starlights track

Postby Petew » Fri 12 Jun, 2020 1:57 pm

Anyone been down starlights recently? Going tomorrow and wondering how trashed it is after the fires.

Cheers,

Pete

See my photos here: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=17036&p=390546#p390375. The last two photos show the view down into the valley. Some bits got burnt but it mostly looks OK around the Starlights area.

Michael.

Significantly burnt, particularly up high, and as a result the track is vague in places and there is some treefall. But still pretty straightforward and the bush is regenerating nicely

And you get a great view across the other side of the main creek that drains the valley....some great little camp caves if you were stuck.

Just got back. Yeah, the creek is wide open. Lots of little caves.

The last time I was down there was in 2018 on the way to Katoomba. The starlights campground is unrecognisable. Gone are the finely manicured lawns, hello weed fest. Still nice though.
