I knew nothing about this Neil, until your last clue prompted some searching. I believe this will be Mount Torbreck.
I found an interesting and very up-to-date read about the history here:

Correct,

It is shown from a fairly obscure view point which might make it hard to recognise for those that are familiar with the mountain.
I have quite a few photos of Mt Torbreck but this day the inversion layer caught my eye. Sort of dividing the top of the mountain from the rest.

your go John.

Kosci is much closer but you're more or less on the same range.
Despite the remote look there is some infrastructure behind me and hordes are walking past.

Thats right Zapruda, 3 Mile Dam from the weekend. I wanted a shot closer to the tree but the snow was nearly waist deep!

Looks like Pigeon House Mountain in the background. I'm thinking you are on Little Forest Plateau. Maybe somewhere near Florence Head?

Yep close enough. A bit further south along the ridge towards Gungartan (and slightly on the other side of the watershed from Valentines catchment). Looking at Gungartan itself... if you zoom in you can see the blown over trig station on the left (south) end of the ridge.

Mmm, there are a few wiggly watercourses around there, maybe Nungar Creek/Plain?
