How to protect dog from snakes?

Postby JoeyJibJabber » Thu 17 Oct, 2019 9:28 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on protecting your dog from snakes? Charlie comes on walks with us quite often but I'm always worried he'll get bitten. I don't think he would chase a snake but could possibly run into one...

Cheers

Living in Sydney, I only take the dogs bush in Winter or on colder days in Spring and Autumn. So their bushwalking is at an end now untill Autumn.
The Kelpie has come across snakes before and is naturally wary of them and stays away. The Staffy has no idea of what danger is and would get bitten for sure.

If walking in the bush, the dog should be on a lead regardless, it is the snakes, blue tongues etc. that are protected and need protecting from dogs.
Dogs are the visitor remember...
